OUR STORY
Hi, my name is Assem. I was born in…. hahah, that was a joke,…don’t worry I wont bore you with all the details here. Just the three most important ones:
- I was born in the USSR (queue the Beatles song) and travelled the world for most of my conscious life.
- My favorite food growing up was soup, I would come home after school and ask my mom to make it! Every. Single. Day.
- ..and as a child I hated when people took photos of me…evidence here on the left.
Today, I am much less camera shy probably because, as my sister likes to say,
“I know I am getting older when I start losing my sense of shame”
This is me now on one of my better hair days:)
But I digress.
One day, about a decade ago I moved to Zürich (for love:) and fell head over heels with this city. The one thing that I didn’t love was the food scene. It was outdated, limited and frankly boring…
I kept wandering around the streets of Zurich and wondering to myself where I could go for a quick bite that was healthy but quick and simple.
As you can imagine I quickly got frustrated, mostly because I was hungry, (hell hath mercy on those around me when I am hungry, just ask my husband) but also because … where do people go for an uncomplicated, healthy lunch after which they don’t fall asleep at their desk?
After buying the entire aisle 4 of the supermarket on an empty stomach, I said to myself: Assem, you can do this!
“What?” You ask. “What can you do?”
Open a restaurant that serves fresh, uncomplicated, delicious food at a fast pace, I say.
The rest is history. As they like to say.
OUR VALUES
Listen, I know you’re busy and I value your time as well as mine, so I’ll keep this part short.
I’ll be honest with you, it takes a whole lot of people and a ton of hard work to run Simply Soup but what keeps us at it is our passion and love for what we do.
And, besides our love for food, which is obvious of course, our passion and love are fueled by three core values:
Fresh
The ingredients we use are fresh and we cook our soups daily. Our goal is for our fridge to be empty by the end of the day so we can start the next day producing food from new ingredients freshly delivered by our vegetable supplier!
Seasonal
Nature knows best, we try wherever possible to source local produce of the season cause that’s how you maximise taste and freshness!
Homemade
From our soups to our salad sauces we create everything from our very own tiny little kitchen. This is important cause that’s how we can stay flexible on the menu and maximise quality!
In summary, we believe that life is short, sweet and can be ridiculously simple if we only let it be.
No frills, no fuss, no bs. Just great-tasting, uncomplicated food served fast that you can rely on, …oh and it won’t break your bank account either.
